About

The silent majority

is the largest part of a country’s population that consists of people who are not actively involved in politics and do not express their political opinions publicly.

Silent Majority Arts, SiMa (see-ma) for short, is a nonpartisan and volunteer run organization. We strive to unite our communities and build a better future by hosting art and culture events which present opportunities for growth and learning. We strive to build community, foster empathy, and encourage diversity, above all else.

Our dream is to live in a country where diverse groups of people come together to make meaningful connections with one another, cast aside the minutiae of their individual idiosyncrasies that are at odds, and dismantle the walls they’ve built between each other.

Our Curator

Olivia Hal Generao, a Filipino-American, versatile creative professional from upstate New York, relocated to Spokane in the summer of 2022. She quickly integrated herself into Spokane’s thriving art community, passionate political sphere, and innovative entrepreneurial networks; shortly thereafter starting her own small business selling personal works of art. You may have seen her vending at any one of Spokane’s art markets, sitting on the Spokane Public Safety Committee, sipping coffee at The Woman Panel, or on the side of the road picking up trash at river cleanup.

As founder and executive director of Silent Majority Arts, she’s dedicated to bridging the perceived gap in the community’s political divide through art and community-focused events. With a rich background in art direction, visual strategy, illustration, and design, Hal Generao leverages her talents to amplify diverse voices and foster meaningful connections within the community.

Her commitment to positive change resonates through her innovative curatorial practices and her efforts to unite through creativity. Her work exemplifies a dedication to visual storytelling, driving forward her mission to elevate the cultural landscape and inspire others to do the same.
